Aqiqah is a sunnah sacrifice connected to a newborn child—an act of gratitude to Allah and a beautiful beginning for the child’s life with du‘a and blessing. The Prophet ﷺ said that a child is “in pledge” for their Aqiqah, and it is recommended to be done early (commonly on the 7th day, if possible).
This service is performed with the child’s name and Aqiqah niyyah, with care and adab.
